What is GeoCom Electronic Delivery?
GeoCom Electronic Delivery is a content management system for subscribed periodicals. This application serves for electronically recording and distributing both tables of contents and articles of periodicals. The platform independence and replication feature of Lotus Domino make this database exeptionally suitable for enterprises operating world-wide.
Why GeoCom Electronic Delivery?
Once new issues of a journal have been recorded, the user usually gets copies of tables of contents. Based on this information selected articles can be ordered as a copy. Articles will be delivered to the user by e-mail considering established legal conditions.
Working with the database
GeoCom Electronic Delivery supports the administration of personal data and information of periodicals. Additionally, it serves for the recording process of new issues and articles and is particular suitable for the management of copy orders. Librarians have access to this database via standard Notes-Client.
Convenience
Titles of periodicals and responsibilities can be easily defined from all locations. At this, periodical data from GeoCom Library can simply be adjusted. Periodicals that are interesting for a user are saved as "personal subscriptions" to the specific user profile. As soon as a new issue of a periodical arrives the user gets informed by e-mail. Hereby a specific configuration whether the notification should be sent daily, weekly or only in case of new copies arriving is possible. User profiles can be modified at any time by each reader.
Easy handling via Browser
GeoCom Electronic Delivery can be accessed via browser interface (e.g. Microsoft Internet Explorer®). Copy orders for selected articles of an issue can easily be generated by editing the scanned version (graphic) of the table of contents adding further comments.
Order processing
Copy orders are managed by staff members of the library. Selected articles will be scanned and saved. The scanned PDF-file is then sent to the user as an e-mail attachment.
Statistics
GeoCom Electronic Delivery disposes of a statistical feature that enables not only to see the number of copies (scanned version) made at the location and period but also gives an overview of the number of copies delivered to each user. This feature is highly useful considering economic decisions.
